Rest in Peace, my little buddy.
Deoge
October 1992 - November 6, 2008
I don't expect everyone to understand why I loved a little tuxedo cat, like I did with my Deoge...   But if you ever met Deoge.....   You do...

He liked to camp, lay in the sunshine, run from Ceeto and sleep.  And one time he even went sledding.  He was one of the only cats that I knew that he wouldn't let anything rattle him.  Even in his final days, being blind....  he was a fighter.  He was known as an "old soul".  He will always be missed and loved....

Kitty kitty lying on your back
oh to sleep with such abandon
kitty kitty stretch your paws so far
stretch them out into the corners
Like a sun spot in my room
Little Halo around the moon

Kitty kitty
Lying there on your back
curl yourself into the the pillow
Little pretty
rest your weary self
there's no harm will dare come near you
You're a sunray in my room
A manta ray in the gloom
Ghostwrite my satellite
Intone, ahead
a song
the rest is you

Kitty kitty lying on your back
oh to sleep with such abandon
kitty kitty stretch your paws so far
stretch them out into the corners
Like a sun spot in my room
Little Halo around the moon
A light, the starless night
alone, ahead
This song
the rest is you.

Ceeto and Deoge
So why Deoge?  It was always kinda fun to explain how he got his name.  Well it started with talking to the one friend, who knew someone that named the cat C A T.....  and I responded that I would have to name my D O G because my cats always acted more like dogs....  well that held true up to DeOGe...  He was the most prim and proper cat when he sat and stuff.....  Well some time after his passing I was talking to my friend Rose and one very "traditional " Seneca elder... and she was telling him about how "he was a old soul" and such.  He ask me what I named him.  I of course said Deoge....  He commented, you named him the Seneca word for CAT, very good....  I went huh?  He said it was the Seneca word for CAT...  I was dumbfounded....  So for a few years I was trying to get some background on this and the proper spelling...  well this year I "facebooked" a ex girlfriend of mine, and her sister is "very traditional" as well.  I asked her if this was true since I couldn't find anything on the Internet.  And she indeed it was.  However the pronunciation is a bit off....   But even so its so close its scarey!!.
